    Default Arlo Go security camera

Anybody have experience with the Arlo Go or any other 4G or LTE security camera? Looking for something to put on our property where our house is being built. Thanks in advance!

Apparently, it doesn't matter. The law won't do anything even if your stuff is stolen. Also, it's your fault for not locking it up better or something.

I use the spartan go live for my home build, so that i can repurpose it for hunting after. This arlo looks interesting, tho. The two way audio would be a handy feature. However, if its recording all footage to the cloud, i would be curious to know how much data that would use and the cost for that monthly. The spartan records locally and only sends what you dictate to the cloud for remote viewing. For example, i have it send a picture only anytime motion is detected. Its set to record 30 seconds of video after motion trigger, but that stays on the camera unless the picture i was sent warrants further investigation, then i request the video upload from the app. You can also see real time footage, but only one-way audio.

I have used an ARLO Go as a trail camera for the past 2.5 years, and it finally died last month. Works great. I will be buying another one soon. I had mine hooked to a solar panel rigged to an old pitch fork. I just moved it around all the time and the critters didn't seem to mind. My friend is a builder and he has 2 or 3 he hides at his job sites. You just need cell service in your area. Mine is on my Verizon account. $10 per month, unlimited videos.

The 2 way audio is great. I turn it on and fuss at the coons and crows eating my corn and they scatter. I also like turning it on live and listening to the turkeys gobble on the roost and watching and listening to the wood ducks in the swamp.
The battery is pretty decent, but the solar panel is a game changer. Set it and forget it.

well plus 1 for arlo go. Spartan forces you to use a data plan through them and its cost prohibitive. right now, i pay 15.99 for 500 mb, and its very easy to burn through 500 in a hurry. it would get expensive quick to upload videos freely.

ETA: This thread inspired me to contact sport and customer support and I was wrong you're not tied to their data plan

I bought a Reolink GO PT last year before duck season to watch the duck hole. 4g/solar/pan/tilt/2 way audio. Runs on T Mobile. Other than the data plan from tmobile, no other fees. Never have to worry about the battery. Worked out pretty good so far. Only drawback is tmobile. Slow where the camera is located but it works well enough.

From what I can’t tell, they will only work with T Mobile though correct?

I have used 9 Arlo Go cameras for about 3-4 years now and am very satisfied with the results. They are NOT cheap and definitely not for everyone. The cameras from Verizon (The cheapest place I have found them) are $400 each and the solar chargers are like $80 each. I pay $5.00 a month per camera from Verizon (I have a business account) and also a $99 per year fee to Arlo for advanced features and more storage. They work totally off of cell service and require no WiFi or computer hookup. I do not use text or email notifications as I get a LOT of videos and do not want my phone buzzing every time a pig walks in front of my camera and stays there for 3 hours. The picture quality is only 720p but still very good day and night videos. I can pull them up live from anywhere and download any videos I want to keep. I do not understand why Arlo has not figured out that these are great for hunters and really tapped into this market. You can call me at 803-351-9850 if you have any questions about them. Larry.

Are they easily concealable? I'd hate to have that much money walking off.

They are pretty small and you can get a set of silicone skins in camo or different colors or even a ghillie type cover. If someone were to steal it, it would do them no good whatsoever as they can not access videos or charge the battery or see anything it has filmed. They would be useless to anyone without an account. They are not perfect as sometimes cell reception can vary and may be weak in certain areas and the camera may go offline, but I use them not only for game cameras but have 2 of them at our camp, one watching people come and go and another to watch the deck of my camper. When the animals are active, I may get 200 videos in one night. You can vary the length of the videos up to 2 minutes. You can press a button and talk to someone or scare an animal off, there is also a button to sound an alarm if needed. You can also allow access to anyone to watch a particular camera or any you have. They need to come out with a cheaper version in 1080p.

Can you add a db gain antenna to the arlo or reolink? The T-Mobile is prepaid data btw for those that are interested.

I have an unlimited plan but when the animals are real active one of my cameras may use 1-3 gb a month I think. I have most of my cameras set for 30 second videos when motion is detected. Sometimes an animal may be in one of my fences I have to put up to keep hogs out and eat for over an hour. I have had hogs be there for up to 3 hours eating at one spot where I put cob outside the fence. I have never heard of any antenna for better reception on one of them.
