    Default Duck Camp Dinners

Anyone watched this series? Worth a watch or am I going to run into an episode featuring tamies and live decoys right here in good old SC?

The latest web series from MeatEater features waterfowler and chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois and his deep roots in the Louisiana Bayou.

Hunting cultural traditions abound in the United States. And even waterfowlers have their various cultural niches. A Louisiana duck camp is a far cry from the snow goose hunts of the Dakotas or the flyway hunts of the midwest.

Chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois is embedded into the Louisiana net of Cajun duck culture. He also brings his passion for Cajun cooking to their remote camp in the bayou.

The six-episode series follows Bourgeois and friends from beginning to end. And it dives deep into a corner of the world most hunters have yet to discover.

Find three episodes right now via MeatEater’s YouTube channel. And luckily, there are three more in waiting.

I've been watching them. One of my favorite things is hunt camp cooking.

I have had some memorable meals afield. One I still want to forget is the whole Squirrel fry I endured at Sitzer's Woods 30+ years ago. Head on fried squirrels. The experience of being a guest on that hallowed ground was overshadowed by the meal they prepared .... River Rats indeed. I can't even look at a skinned squirrel anymore without flashing back.

That is one thing you won't ever eat if I am cooking at camp.

It’s not a bad show. The episodes got shorter each week. That’s my only complaint.

They could’ve added a bunch of BS to take up more time but they didn’t and I appreciated it. Kept it simple bc it’s a simple concept.

    The meal that lives forever

By the looks of their lodging and accomodations these days, i'd guess that they have probably improved on their vittles.

We didn't, and I highly doubt Marsh Chicken did himself...

I enjoyed it for the cooking more than for the hunting. It's worth a watch in my opinion. I've been all over South Louisiana and enjoyed the scenery shots as well.
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

I’ve had squirrel in many forms, but never with the head still intact
