Default Who's eating at deer feeders?

Quote: "Many hunters who choose to feed deer may not realize the wide variety of critters visiting those feeders. To better understand which species of wildlife eat at deer feeders, the MSU Deer Lab monitored feeding sites with trail cameras during 2019-2020.

Surprisingly, white-tailed deer represented only about a quarter of all wildlife visits at deer feeders. Raccoons make up the largest proportion: over 40%! Turkeys, mourning doves, wild pigs, opossums, squirrels, and many species of mice and songbirds also take advantage of this easily accessible bounty of food.

I have more summer ducks than deer eating out of mine. I know it takes awhile for deer to get used to them, but damn it’s getting frustrating. I’m in it for the long run and hopefully year round feeding so i know it will eventually pay off.

Some of the ones I’ve seen on here could fill a dump truck with just the cobs. Insane. And that hog number must be for fenced in feeders.

Depends on where the survey was done.

if you have one pig, you have two. if you have two pigs, they will eat at a feeder more than that tiny percentage....at least in my time on this planet.

If you have no pigs then you have zero pigs and they won't be eating at your feeder. Maybe they calculated in feeders on properties with zero pigs. I have found that numbers can be skewed by variables...in my time on the planet.

yes but if you multiply anything by zero, you get zero....not a tiny amount.

I put up a feeder at a spot on my property- 1 week later I killed a 180lb sow under it- it walked up 5 minutes before the feeder was set to go off, looked up at it and stood waiting- I let it wait 2 minutes to se if anymore showed then shot it. Damned thing could tell time.
