Good luck G, seems to be a common problem in this industry. Hope you find some good help to keep those good looking rigs haulin’ wood!

Good luck. We have 6 lowboys, 2 of which constantly sit due to not being able to keep a warm body behind the wheel.

Don’t even get me started on dump trucks. I quit counting how many sit on our yard once all the crews light out.

The worst part is, if you can even find someone to drive them, they don’t know how to drive! I can’t tell you how many truck drivers we have that can’t even drive a straight drive! Most of our trucks now are automatic, but still…HOW IN THE LITERAL FUCK DO YOU ONTAIN A CDL AND CANT SHIFT GEARS???!

Y’all are preaching to the choir. Try finding one that can/will ALSO run a Moffett/Piggyback lift and load and unload sod. I have 9 currently. 7 employees and 2 contract guys. It’s like herding cats…..

Trucking is the #1 issue that will kill a logging business now. It's a crying shame with the money being offered, often times extra coming out of the logger's pocket that you can't find contractors. Insurance requirements have also killed it trying to find drivers if you own your trucks. One of my guys has 5 on the road, costs him close to $100k each year right out the gate for insurance.

We’re facing a crisis. The trucking issues at hand, as well as the lack of young loggers who are willing and want to learn the business entering the workforce.

Tell it. I’ve got a helluva story I could tell around a fire one night, but not on an open forum.

Lawyers are the problem for a lot of this crap. Both sides of the aisle but the plaintiffs guys are the scum of the earth. The sob stories about helping people are bullshit, every time I hear it I respond with if you cared so much about them and their situation you would let them keep 90% of the settlement instead of 60-70% after the inflated costs. They usually stammer and tell me how much they are risking, not in this part of the state.

I know quite a few owners of logging business who drive trucks when they have the time. Unfortunately trucking is what will kill a logging crew. Getting the wood to the deck is no problem but getting it to the mill is a nightmare these days.
