    Default Maggie Valley area?

Anybody been up that was recently? Alot of tourist, bad as the beach crowd wise. Was thinking about maybe heading up during the week but if it's anything like the beach's forget it. Thanks

I’m kidding. Last time I was up that way you could get a picture with an ancient indian and a live chicken in a vending machine beat me at tic-tac-toe.

No idea if ghost town still exists, but it was awesome when I was 7.

Went up there 2 years ago the first weekend in December

It was dead, and I mean DEAD.

It looked exactly the same as it did in the 80’s minus any crowd or traffic.

I kinda figured there would be some folks there for Christmas lights and stuff but nope

Not terrible but a lot of people from Florida are there for the summer.

Its pretty laid back. If you want myrtle beach go to gatlinburg. Couple good eats in maggie.

I did some research into it a while back. Apparently someone bought it to renovate and reopen it, but the estimate was more than they thought it was going to be. So they decided to just let it sit there. I loved it as a kid. One of the few "parks" that I didn't beg my dad to leave after about an hour.

I got a house up there. It’s great in the summer. A pain sometimes in winter. Country vittles for breakfast. I like the Mexican joint at least once while up there. Waynesville has a decent couple restaurants. Mostly cook while up there though. Take a ride or hike on the blue ridge parkway. Enjoy cooler weather. We have the creek in the back yard and I’ll go hang in my hammock over the creek.

A developer is still exploring a condo and homes and reviving Ghost town. Shops on the bottom floor residential on next level. I have quoted some budget stuff. Expensive to build condos and commercial in the mountains. Moving dirt is never cheap.

Tourist trap.. there are much better options. We stayed outside Boone this week and also hit up Blowing Rock and Linville.

Headed to Cherokee this weekend. We've never stayed in MV, always Happy Holiday Campground in Cherokee. (first campground on the right after you cross the mountain from MV)

Been camping there since '92 when we got married. Pretty much the same, hasn't changed much at all except for the casino. MV can be really crowded when they have special events. Rod runs, bike rallies, ect.

The ship that swung out over the side of the mountain scared the shit out of me back when I was a kid.
