Default Greenville Skeet Club youth skeet camp

Anyone attended or had a child attend the youth skeet camp and Greenville skeet club?

Son is going in 2 weeks and wondering what to expect. Do they have any guns to rent?

He is shooting a 20g A400 currently. He’s gotten the skeet bug and some of the older guys at the matches have been telling us to get ready for 4 gun. Considering a Beretta 694 or even a DT11. Either way the only thing I want him to have is the ability to run a TSK so that it can stay with him as he grows being he is 13. The adjustability makes it easier to stomach the cost for getting him to 4 gun. I like the idea of 1 gun with fitted tubes rather than multiple.

Thanks in advance. Also if anyone knows anywhere some what local to demo some mid range Berettas or something comparable please share. Lot of dough to shell out with out a test drive.

Sounds interesting. Didn’t know there was a Greenville Skeet Club and didn’t know there was a local camp. Do you have a link?

I wouldn't put him in an O/U at 13, just my .02. Call Cole Gunsmithing in FL and talk to Rich about a TSK. You can buy an A400 12 gauge with a TSK already on it directly from him or go with a 694 if you choose that route

Or you could get off that sinking ship called skeet and get him on sporting clays. One gun can do it all. If he decides to piddle around with sporting sub gauge then buy a set of briley side kicks. Sporting is a 12 ga game and Nobody is serious when it comes to sub gauge.

Well, that too, but I wasn't going to say anything. I don't give a damn if I ever see another skeet or trap field. I'd rather watch paint dry.....

It is at the Greenville gun club. The folks teaching the kids are great and knowledgeable. I know most of them personally. They are doing it to teach kids the fundamentals of shooting.

We took an afternoon trip to Forrest City few weeks back when Rich and company was there for Georgia Regionals. He’s the one that got us on the OU TSK set up. We arrived late and didn’t have the chance to Demo anything. I had to be back for work unfortunately. Awesome guy BTW, took lots of time to talk with us and educate on fit what sets the models apart.

Haha! He hates trap, was 100% sporting clays at first. He still likes clays and participates in both with his team mates. Im interested in buying something he can use for both when the time comes. Mostly research at this point.

Skeet does appear to be a sinking ship. I will say the NSSA events he’s shot has been great. The older guys have shocked me. I was prepared for stuck up crotchety old men not wanting kids out there. So far it has been just the opposite. Notice the kids seem to respond to help better when the older guys are helping. Even had a few hang after the round and help them with a few stations that gave them trouble.

Trap has the old gumpy guys. Skeet is desperate to keep folks interested. Can't go wrong with a 694. And definitely go thru Rich Cole. He's gold with anything Beretta.

What mudminnow said... Not sure they will have any guns available so you might want to check with the folks putting on the camp (don't bother calling the GGC). 2 thumbs up for anything Cole.

I will see what I can find out. Honestly his coach got him the spot, I just sent the money. My understanding is it fills up quick and I remember he was registered back in the spring.
