    They're not invasive because they reproduce vegetatively. They're invasive because birds eat the seed and spread it, and the seeds do a great job of sprouting and establishing anywhere, making a problem for everyone else. No one planted a Bradford pear in the river swamp 15 miles from the nearest paved road, but they're there.
