Default Bad news for Yamaha buyers

News release by Yahaha-If you ordered and are waiting on a new Yamaha outboard-and it's not part of a package with a new boat- you just got the shaft. Yamaha has cancelled all orders and will be refunding the money already paid.
All motors produced will be going to their biggest dedicated partner dealers- like Scout and Sea Hunt etc.
Basically just said screw the little guys and private buyers.

Damn- that sucks, but it won't impact its bottom line. I knew they had a large piece of the market, but not being a boat guy, I didn't realize how large. We were at Sandy Island over the weekend with about 40-50 other boats. There was ONE non-Yamaha. One. I was amazed.

Look at the parts back order for existing yamaha motors.
Can’t even put a date on when or if they will be back in stock this year.

Other places have strong representation by Merc and Zuke- working on the water I see plenty of all

    It's the 80/20 rule.

Focus and take care of the 20% of customers that bring you 80% of your business. You get to the rest when you can.

This isn't a new practice, it's just rarely broadcast and published in such a manner. The refunding shows you just how bad it really is.
