Show them your license, and keep fishing. Simple. Or be a dumbass redneck and act tough. Then go through all the mentioned shit above. Spend 5 min showing your legal to fish, and have a good day, or spend 5 min arguing like a heybo and go to jail. Dumb ass

Not saying he's right or wrong but sometimes you have to stand up for your rights

everytime I hear one of these stories I think of all the people that say the police are your friends and will disobey orders and not kick in your doors to take your guns if they are told to do so. It sounds like this cop would be the first in line

Dragging hooks through the surf around tourists or shark fishing could cause problems.

I imagine he was not supposed to be fishing there this time of the year. The cop asked for his license. The fisherman refused then argued without knowing the law. Cop did what cops do.
    My first thought too.
Just maybe, just maybe the cop didn't wake up that morning and say, "I'm going to go harass a fisherman, think I'll face plant him in the sand and then waste my entire day dealing with booking and paperwork related to it.

I didn't think you needed a fishing license to fish from shore. That is a poorly written article.

I would've shown my license and let the dude go on his way, the easiest way to deal with asses is not to be one yourself. I'm all for rights and standing up for them but I'm also all for not having disagreements with dudes with badges and guns and usually the law on their side.
