Interesting article in the most recent "South Carolina Wildlife" about dove populations. Seem to be holding steady but they are way down in our area.

Dove numbers were down in our field compared to last year. I haven't seen near the amount of birds in freshly cut corn fields either. I don't know if the birds moved out, or everybody made good corn so they are more spread out.

Checked our field yesterday and saw two doves. Drove around a 12-15 mile radius and I didn't see a limit of doves. What has happened to our birds?

Our fields have been really slow compared to years past. I don’t know what the answer is. There is still lots of corn around us and we have seen more dove fields pop up around us that haven’t been there in the past.

We aren’t lighting the world on fire but they are steady. We are killing birds

Anybody that has a quarter of an acre to plant is planting a field. I believe that is hurting me as well.

The corn harvest has more to do with it "i think". Food is everywhere...

We've had plenty of birds both times we have shot. Plenty!

That's a new one for the long list of excuses for having a sub par dove field and no birds

Where I have been hunting since last year, if the trend continues, we had better shoots later in the season. Think I've killed 19 birds in 3 hunts so far. Last season the best hunts started in the second part of the season and stayed pretty good to the end. There are fresh cut corn fields all over the place near our field.

We had a great November shoot and hope to have another one tomorrow. My field has been holding a lot of birds for the past week and a half. I hope to break 1000 birds for the season off my field after tomorrow’s shoot. Typically we have already reached that point by the end of the first season. Our opener was not as good as usual (420 birds) but the late season shoots have been great.

At least someone has birds. I checked a field in Fairfield yesterday and saw 3.

I mowed a bunch of the corn left in my field and expect it will rot on the ground. I think I've seen about a dozen birds in the last two months.

I left some standing too long last year and it messed up my turkey season. I plan to get it down and gone well in time to be legal this year.
