    Default Bulls in winyah

Had a nice 4th fishing winyah with my son and while we struck out on tarpon we landed quite a few bull reds.

We had the best action on the 3rd and at one point had a double hook up going on with him and his buddy.

Humidity was low and the temps great for July.

We used whole blue crabs that were alive.

Another we caught. Pics were rushed with commotion and trying to not stress the fish!

Thanks. I’m not a seasoned captain like most around here, but if anyone ever wants to fish winyah, hit me up. Rumor has it blackstock clothing may have a line up of fishing specific camo and shirts in beta testing!

Those would be bull reds in North Carolina. Where I'm from, they're called channel bass or big ass spottails.

Nice fish! How do you like that sportsman? I’m looking hard between the sportsman 214 sbx, key west Br210, and the tidewater 2110 bay max

The term “bull red” is especially stupid seeing as all fish over 28 inches are inherently female.

    Nice spottails.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Good for you, Dad, for getting those boys out fishing. Great memories all around.

    Nice spottails.
Not sure if I agree with that… I believe redfish male sexual maturity is around 28-30 inches which is around age 4. They still continue to grow after maturity, just slower.
