Tell me about your setup there lol. I’ve heard of people building cattle feedlots to hunt over but I ain’t ever seen a setup that looks like a rock quarry loading zone

First year out here, a friend invited me to hunt a feed lot on opening day. Sitting in the shade of a corall fence and shooting a limit in 45 minutes and picking up all the birds laying dead within a 30 yard circle was pretty cool, but it just fell far short of the southern dove shoot experience. I started shooting doves in the corn fields of a ranch I had access to, and it seemed more "fair," but doing that alone was still a downer compared to what I grew up with. I lost access to that ranch, so last year I shot doves for 3 days on another foodlot I have access to. Each time it was a 30 minute deal, and I quit on the doves once I had 45 in the freezer.

The pic above is loading area from the ranch I lost access to. I can't remember exactly when that was, but I think it was late spring/early summer. While that is certainly "normal ag practices," I wouldn't shoot mourning doves in a situation like that for fear that I may have missed a small blurb in the regulation book and get hauled off to jail...besides, that damn sure wouldn't be "fair." Those are Eurasian Collared doves, and I was bored that day. Unfortunately, they are an absolute bitch to clean, so I stopped killing them.

All that said, anyone who want's to go to Argentena to have that barrell burning dove shoot experience but doesn't want to spend that money or leave the country...come out here or somewhere similar. You can shoot non-stop till you don't want to shoot anymore...just have to stop shooting mourning doves at 15 and put the beatdown on the EC variety and pigeons.
