Resteel and connection failure due to corrosion or moles.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Someone there had something on the Clintons
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

So can we assume the building was occupied near capacity?

Of all the reporting on the news this AM, I have not seen a video like JAB posted. Not saying JAB's isn't valid, just wonder about news and why we have to rely on JAB..

News does say building built in 1981. Do you suppose a sinkhole went to work?

I'm sure. It's miami. Also, there were several units it it for sale over $1mm.

I'm inclined to support Mark's theory on rusty rebar.

Theories abound. From the USS Ford shock test off Florida the other day to Clintoncide. Nutters gonna nut.

I would also guess salt corrosion with sinkhole coming in second. Bet the company that built that one is fixing to get a colonoscopy to remember...

Foreign rebar in bad concrete mixes in the columns with poor bar placement would be my guess. Hurricane Andrew revealed the poor construction in South Florida for decades prior. With the port so close it made difficult competition for domestic long steel producers in South Florida. Few commercial projects spec domes m tic steel. Brazil produced some rebar like tail steel. Customers had to saw instead of shear.

It could be bad for some if this leads to many of those type buildings to be inspected.

I doubt shearwalls were a requirement then. It would rare to have a catastrophic failure like what with them. We

I would think that number will rise. Probably by a good bit but I hope not.
