Beg your wife to jump over to Venice for a couple of days. Shoot, tell her she can even go with you.

Go listen to Jazz in the Davenport Lounge at the top of the Ritz Carlton and drink a good Manhattan, instead of listening to jazz on Bourbon street drinking a hurricane, with the smell of piss and vomit in the atmosphere.

Eat some bread pudding with the cinnamon on it. When we stayed in Venice some dude that fished with us was from the area and went up to NO to get some groceries. He brought some back with him. I have no idea where it came from but holy shit it was good.

dont let these yahoos deter you from enjoying the food and history in and around new orleans.
bourbon street and a good part of the "downtown" area arent what they used to be, but there are some treasures around.

    Food, jazz, and some history...
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

Dark, dark place, but fun. If you go to Charlie's, they have a whole shrimp appetizer where the shrimp are large and served in a broth of buttery goodness. It is recommended. The broth is good to dip pizza crust in also if the opportunity presents itself.

Went there for bachelor party a few years ago. Got there on a Thursday morning and didn’t sleep until I got on the plane To leave on Sunday. I think I took a year or two off my life that weekend. It’s worth seeing one time

Gotta goto Bourbon street....just be careful how far you walk.... farther you go the sketchier it gets

Excellent fishing is about an hour away, so maybe plan a day fishing trip.

I’ve been twice and don’t care to go back. It’s dirty and I just didn’t get into the overall vibe. Im glad I’ve seen it but a week is a lot of time in New Orleans. Do you have other options under consideration?

I drove thru on I-10 with my middle finger flying the whole time.
