    Default Hog Traps

I’ve got one on loan right now but I need one on a permanent basis.

Building one isn’t a problem for me but time to do it is. Does anyone have one they would like to sell or can y’all point me in the right direction to buy one?

    Thanks

Look up tear drop style traps with hog wire and tpost, we have been running these for quite some time with success. The guy who came up with pig brig tested his trap on our place. So I have first hand experience with them and I’m not paying what he wants for them.

Looking for something like TimSmith posted, not interested in any type of remote controlled or electronic system at this point.

Any feed and seed type stores around the state selling some locally made decent traps?

Tractor Supply sells them. They have the angled push panels. I have rigged these with trip lines and had good success. One I bought was $399 about 5 years ago.

I built mine, 20ft long , 6ft wide. Has a removable tongue and gauge wheels off a finishing mower . I raise and lower trap with a 12volt linear actuator. The secret to any trap is patience, I set up cameras and wait till all hogs are feeding in trap, till I set it.

We built a few out of a big metal spool. Two panels of hog fence and a little wood for the door and you in bidness. Need.to move it just turn it up and roll it on a trailer.

Tim Smith sighting! Tractor supply root in traps work just fine. Trick out door if you want, but they still pile in if a few go in. My 2 cent, wait until there is no food and you get a freeze stretch. Very easy to put a dent in the pork. 47 KIA in a 3 month time, not trying and new to the traps.

You’re just pissing in the wind my friend. Spend the money up front and trap all the ones you can. A whole “sounder” if you will. Buddy of mine ran a little drop gate trap for 6 months or so. Trapping them fairly regularly for the first couple months. After that they avoided all metal objects like the plague. And his hog problem may be worse.

Rooter trap from Tractor Supply works great- move it to a different spot or cover it with brush if the hogs seem to be ignoring it- or prop the gate open with a stick- a hog will trigger it and once in and eating others will join.
I stake mine down with 2 T posts so a big hog can't roll it over.

Sent game warden a picture of my tractor supply trap with a pig in it. He didn’t say anything. I keep the doors tied open when I’m not actively trying to catch a pig in it. I do have pictures of deer walking in it to eat corn
