    Small mouth, large mouth, Brimps.

Not sure it’s worth the $150/day fishing permit though.

My grandmother took me to Lake Lure sometime around '85 or '86. We fished off the bank and filled up a 5 gallon bucket with little channel cats. That's my one and only experience with fishing there.

I pretty sure they now have an exorbitant boat launch fee permit quota system, too.

I just got back from there Tuesday. It is a gorgeous lake. Boat permit I've heard is pretty crazy.

As others have said, a permit is required. The fishing is ok, you can catch all your normal freshwater fish, plus trout and white bass. Be sure to check size limits, if you plan to keep any as they differ. The two main pains are traffic and no wake from sunset til sunrise.

A week at lake Lure is a long time, I would take some ultra lights and hit some of the streams within an hour.

I lived on the lake for about 37 years. My brother still lives on the lake. I left and been back 1 time. I want go back. I was disappointed on what it has become. Don't waste your time fishing but hit the streams if you can get out of the traffic to get to them. It is a zoo this time of year.

I wouldn't bother with taking a outboard. Fish the Broad and just ride to Brevard and fish the Davidson. Too many rules, regulations, permits on the lake.

This. A day maybe 2. I haven't fished there in years. 2 years ago I somehow got hooked up with an investor and roofed a couple of hotels and restaurants in downtown chimney rock right on the river. Nice area but rather small
