    Default Authentic Mexican Food

My wife has requested that I tap-in to the collective braintrust that is SCDUCKS, so here goes:

Is Monterrey's real Messican? Our contention is that if there are more whites and/or blacks than Hispanics at said restaurant, it probably ain't the real deal. What say you, and what's your go-to spot? Holla back.

Although good I would say Monterrey's isn't "real" Mexican.

El Pincho Taco in Charleston is Real.

SLP mexican grill on Atomic Rd in north Augusta is a close second for me. Hispanics always outnumber anyone else there.

None of those canned combo places is authentic.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I just got back from El Paso and had Tex/Mex at several places while there. I don't find a hell of a lot of difference in any of them. Hell, there is hardly any difference between each dish except whether they put the meat and refried bean on top of or under the tortilla. Same ingredients, just a different way to arrange it on the plate.

Home Depot parking lot on South Blvd at lunch time look for the señorita’s in the van with the hatch open near the contractor parking. Or just drive through any subdivision that is actively being developed around lunch. Another option is to find Mexican tienda most have a taqueria inside.

My mom's family is from Texas and most still live in El Paso. The only place she eats in the Columbia area is Cecilia's on St Andrews road by the Zorbas. Don't think she has tried Moctezuma but if its actually good I'll let her know. She drives me up a wall cause she always asks them when she orders Chile poblanos if they are legit poblano peppers or just a bell pepper cut in half

Haven't been there, but I'll try it next time I'm in Spartanburg.

Have you ever had El Burrito in BS? It's pretty good, and authentic. I think I was the only person that spoke English there last time I went.

Edited to add: Looks like this gem was another causality in the global transfer of wealth of 2020. Shit

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
