"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.

Ran across this article about the savage 99s, I have some new respect for that gun and now I want one
Lots of good history in this article

Always wanted a 99, never found a good deal on one, got 4 lever guns, 3- 30/30 and 1- 357, all Marlins JM stamped. I kill a deer every year with one. I have 4, one for each grandson to have when I'm gone.
I inherited my grandad’s .250, think it’s a 1939. He died in 1989. I put a scope on it and have killed a few deer with it. I carry it more every year. That strap is a pain in the ass but it was my grandad’s and I don’t have the heart to take it off.

I had a Savage 99 in .243, sold it to someone here. Nice shooter, rotary mag was clever, trigger not so much.

This one is a Winchester 33 caliber made in 1902 that I inherited from a long line of ancestors. Still kills.

Iowa changed their regs. Now any cartridge between .350 and .501 is legal during 1st and 2nd gun. My .35 Remington is going with me this year.
