    Default Stripper limit on Murray

Last week I caught and kept 5 small Stripers because I was not sure how the “attempt to take” part of the regulation was interpreted. What I want to know, is does this essentially mean no catch and release? I was fishing in about 15-20 ft of water. Seems like I remember discussions about releasing fish caught from deep water where they later died and that had an impact on the limit?
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

That jives with what I thought, although it seems that before 6/1, it has to be catch and release due to the size (length) limit?

    It's 21" minimum before 6/1...
We had to release a couple 20" fish on 5/31.. Kinda sucked.

You do not have to keep the fish !!!
You can catch 5 fish per person and then you have to stop fishing.

The whole point of this law is to try and prevent as many fish as possible from dying each summer on top of the fish kills.
The fish you caught at 60ft deep on a down rod might swim off fine but may die later depending on the water quality.

Could you use the depth release tools similar to offshore bottom fishing?

Glad the title change thing is back, keeps it hopping. There is no one on the planet that doesn't want more strippers on the water in the summer. Carry on.
