    Default Monolithic bullets

    What?

It was revealed to me that these titanium projectiles in 9 mm are highly efficient...I wondered if the braintrust here either concurred or had other opinions. TIA

I can attest to the efficiency out of a .308. All I shoot at 4 legged deer.

Titanium is a relatively light and hard, rigid metal. It doesn't seem it would be ideal for bullets.

Yeah but you aren’t going to be plinking or sending a few 1,000 down the barrel.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Are you sure you're not confusing titanium with tungsten? Titanium is about as light as aluminum. Tungsten is more dense than lead.

    Certainly needs to be suppressed.

It is possible that I misheard, but the source claimed that the 9mm bullets for defense would be monolithic titanium. I was interested in what he said because I don't like 9mm for personal defense.

Tungsten is harder than tool steel. Density means nothing if it won't conform to the lands in the rifling.

A regular cold chisel will cut tungsten. Pure tungsten can be machined with regular high speed steel tool bits and drilled with regular high speed steel drill bits but it is indeed a lot harder than lead, copper and other metals that are typically used for bullets and probably would be rough on the rifling.

Titanium is hard enough to make gun frames and parts....expensive but very light weight guns. It would be hard on rifling too.

Might as well be made out of unicorn dicks because most people can't get the primers, cases, or powder anyway...

Why don't you like the 9mm?
