I believe most solved murders are committed by family members, spouses and known associates and
the bulk of the unsolved are committed by strangers if I am not mistaken

If they're unsolved, how can you say who they were committed by?

I believe the premise is they aren't solved because they were committed by folks outside of the victims "circle"
any investigator will tell you that
IE: traveling serial killers that travel across country snatching someone every now and then vs a domestic violence killing or a drug related kill'n

I don’t believe that to be true as homicides are the violent crimes least likely to be committed by total strangers with armed robbery being most likely. In the ones I have seen go unsolved in my career, most were gang related. It’s just in their culture not to cooperate with the investigation.

Not disagreeing and I wasn't talking about "most" murders, what I was trying to say is that "the ones that are committed by total strangers" have a higher probability of going unsolved, for example a transient passing thru town. And doesn't data support most murder victims knew they killer?

Looks like they are also going to reopen the Stephen Smith case. I don't think anything will ever come of it, but I hope the mother can get some closure at some point.

Just read that article on Fitsnews.

I am with you, not sure what they will get out of it but I hope at least some closure. If I read the article correct his family was questioned on the 2 murders which shocked the Mother

Going to be an interesting summer in SC lowcountry I assume

I’d say let’s solve one before we go opening up cold cases. But that’s just me.

Speaking of Yellowstone whoever made the fake date for the new season needs to be kicked in the nuts

I watch horror movies. Smith’s murder and the cover up is stranger than fiction. According to Ms. Matney, key forensic evidence disappeared, including a rape kit.

Maybe Robin Roberts will interview the grieving mother. *chortle*

The official theory of his death is ludicrous, a bad joke, and so is the legal system there.
