Been using an abu garcia Vigilante 5'6" ultralight and Shimano Sedona 500FD for about the last 6 or 7 years now. Sedona needs to be serviced but that combo has proven reliable. If/when i have to replace the sedona, id probably buy a pflueger president xt

After looking at a bunch of rods and reels, I settled on this combo. After fishing with it a while, I bought two more combos just like it because I knew they'd discontinue them when they found out I liked them. Most "ultralight" stuff is way too wispy for my taste and the spool diameter is too small to cast light stuff like beetle spins easily.

5’6” Ugly Stick with a Quantum Energy reel. I have had this rig since 1995.

I like and have had the same combo that Charlie mentioned, hurt when my son broke it. The plfuegers are cool, had one of the ultra light Presidents, and a few of the Trions. I ordered three of something similar to them a few nights ago. I have like eight of the cheaper Diawas now as well, they're just okay. I keep them split up between the lake and town now for kid use. That st Croix combo was like a couple hundred years back when he snapped it, I don't have the thing inside me to return stuff that's my fault. I keep kid combos now, or have for several years.
