Roto tiller is the ticket but does take a while. I've got a 5 acre field that grows rocks and doesn't show any signs of stopping. I till right through them. Tines ain't too expensive and simple to replace. The only problem I have encountered using a tiller is creating a hard pan if you till only four 4 or 5 years. The top 2" or so will be fine but it will be hard as rock underneath. I got a chisel plow from papa duck cutter and every other year I go through and chisel plow my plots right after the season. Then come back and till them for fall plots. Works well for me. Down where Kevin is and you other lowcountry folks could Probly get by with only roto tiller with the sandy soil

I called one dealer today just to check on the price of a cultipacker. 14 weeks before he would be able to get one!

Would a chisel plow do you any good? I have one I’ve never used. Brand new blades on it.

not really, krt. tines are so spaced out. its a great implement before you disc. a good way to help turn up dirt deeper to plow in.

I am no farmer but I have no freaking clue how a cultipacker would be of any help. wtf am I missing?

I’d let the tiller do it’s job then replace the blades later.

How much is that other contraption cost?

I have a chisel plow and it’s really great for reducing hard pan. Once you finish with that you go back over the field with a disc. Supposedly a cultipacker is one of the tools of choice for breaking up clods.

I could see a cultipacker potentially working, but you are going to need a lot of weight on it to get enough pressure. Also going to need to have good moisture.

can you find a crows foot packer? We've used then on our clay for years. I used John Deere Cultipacker with great success. Nowadays it's cultivator and rolling baskets.
We gave you Corn, you gave us clap, bad trade.

You could....till it or disc it again and bring most of the big clods back to the top then take a landscape rake and drag them off to the side of the plot. I've done this with rocks. Should work with bog clods
