early season afternoon hunts are rough. Same reason I don't sit in a tree stand early season.
It would cost us a million for a change like that in SC
Imagine the bike races in the pitch black dark at 4am to get a spot in a dove field.
It will be a much enjoyed change to tradition for sure.

Those foggy morning shoots in Boykin were something to behold...
The whole afternoon only deal further points to the fact that DNR and it’s LEOs predominantly treat everyone they meet as a criminal until they can prove otherwise.
The majority of folks that shoot doves only do so on opening day and possibly Labor Day. After that the pressure is off. The half day was done to keep folks from double dipping because, well, they’re criminals after all and that’s what criminals do.
The choice of afternoons only was done to further limit the harvest by keeping some of the aforementioned criminals at home because it’s miserable in a September afternoon dove field. Afternoon only is spiteful and vindictive. If we’re only going to allowed to hunt half a day during the time of the season when most of the criminals hunt then let it be mornings.
My single favorite day of hunting. Opening morning of dove season.
I've noticed sept AM dove activity has decreased in recent years.
yep its like they loaf around till noon
its hot as hell in september but I still love it
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Most years our morning shoots are on fire last year it didn’t get started good till almost 2.
The kind where there will be nothing happening and before you know it, you can hardly keep your gun loaded.
For us, the change will mean our usual opening day meal at Noon will now include fresh grilled doves.. Heck yeah.

Saturday afternoons in September should be reserved for college football - start it at daylight and close it at noon until November...
