Are you planning on hunting with any of them?

I'm going to find you some good chunks of quartz and rhyolite to play around with like the SC Indians used. I have a 40 pound piece of green rhyolite as a stepping stone in a flower bed that must have been canoed down from NC. Too pretty to break open though.

It impresses me that the locals could make a living with such rough rocks. That low country chert does make a pretty point though. The west coast indians had it made with that obsidian.

Yep depends on the ryholite. I've heard some guys prefer it if it's a good piece

Super proud of this one. One of my favorite artifact points are Dalton style points (Google for a picture) there is just something about them I always am drawn to. I did my best to recreate one out of some obsidian. I thought it was "plain tiger" obsidian but realized all of the black is actually 'clear' when held up to light.

Result of laziness and not putting on the glove I normally wear for that very reason.

Clean it well and then apply super glue. Not kidding...

Very nice points. As a result of your recent posts, I spent about an hour watching Youtube videos on the basics of knapping. Pretty cool stuff for sure.

Yea luckily it was just surface skin. Not even the worst I've gotten from knapping.

If your eighth grade teacher sees that, they will send you to the nut house for ‘observation’.

Piece of Jasper that turned into a corner notch. Surprisingly it stayed together having a significant weak point with the crystal pocket.

I got my first "kit" when I was 15. I'm gonna be 31 in July. That's not doing it regularly though. I'd say total about 3-4 years worth of on and off again messing with it
