    Default rice on mudflats

Has anyone sprouted their rice and then broadcasted it on a wet mudflat? If you have planted rice do you think this will work out???
It was a three dog night, and I ain't got but one dog, me and him both damn near froze.

There’s a Duckmen Vid, don’t remember which one, where they did it in a beaver swamp on their property.

    Successful and loaded with ducks.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Planted 7-8 acres of rice last year in two ponds one was 1 miles from Santee river the other just inside of 2....made nice heads in both ponds....I disced rice in last week and another pond it’s starting to sprout back from existing shoots....a duck was not harvested in either pond....never had any.... I blame the river and acorns

When in doubt, shoot him again!

Work like it's all up to me, but pray, like it's all up to him!

We drained a beaver swamp two years ago. Top speed rice and millet in the mud. Both did very well and had lots of ducks early season. Mostly wood ducks, but also had a few mallards.

Hope I'm not preaching to the choir here. I plant a lot of rice. I soak it, turn it prior to planting. By the book 2,4 leaf stage fertilizer. I'm on a .25 percent success rate. I control my water. It is hard as heck to get a consistent rice crop in SC. If it heads (90 days) and they find it you have a gold mine. So with my experience it is kickass if it works. So many variables. Good luck!

We planted rice last year in a few sloughs by simple broadcasting in wet areas and even in very shallow water. It did quite well.

it really needs to be hit with nitrogen at tiller stage, or you will end up with little to no rice inside of the hulls

Pulled mine down as far as I could and planted rice in wet areas and millet in the dry areas
