Default Bridge to AR Closed. Hey it could have been worse

So the Interstate bridge from Memphis to West Memphis is closed indefinitely. Ouch. MG

The I55 bridge is even worse, surprised it wasn’t that one that closed down.

Mississippi closed too. Surely not political or stop more oil flow. Most major bridges are outdated and have cracks.

I was watching a B52 out of Barksdale yesterday on https://globe.adsbexchange.com/. They flew to Memphis, then Hunstville, then Atlanta, then Nashville, then Clemson (not kidding), finally loitering for a few hours east of Ft. Bragg before RTB. It was like I was driving that mother...

A little JB weld and some duct tape, fix that right up.

Bridges should be built with reinforced concrete.

My late Uncle Al recounted to me a story from his time in RVN. Downrange about 1 mile from an Arclight bombing run. Said it was one of his proudest memories from his time over there . Said the next day they went into the bombed area and didn't find one enemy body.

Vaporized or a dry run? Didn't matter. He said the B52s were so high you couldn't see them. Impact shock waves bout knocked the breath out of them so he said.

I read yesterday that they were extending their service AGAIN, until 2050. They came into service in 1952...

Amazing aircraft. Went inside a B-52 D at the Dobbins AFB air show years back. She was a big ol airplane. 185 foot wingspan if memory serves.

Those cigarette smoking, martini drinking engineers from the 40s and 50s could slide rule the shit out of an airplane.
