Kids activities/sports?

I’m all about instilling a good work ethic, but at the same time they have the rest of their lives to work. Let a kid (13 under) play and have fun. Make sure they understand work gets them somewhere, but don’t be a drill sergeant.

My boy (8) plays some type of sport for the most part year round. He bounces from baseball to soccer to basketball. He goes with me hunting around the house and heads out of state with me a couple times a year.

Start a middle school fishing club. Our middle school is in the works of expanding on theirs. There is one team right now that has won their last seven tournaments.

A lot, and it can be pretty useful throughout your life. Business, relations, not looking silly being invited to play I'm a charity tournament. When everything shut down a ton of our team sport players ventured out to the course, some are still playing.

There is an archery circuit y'all can shoot on Sunday afternoons in the Charlotte/Fort Mill area. There was a rec swim team I am not not sure if still around. Learning to be a strong swimmer will always be an asset. Not everyone can play water polo.

Explore different avenues a friend of ours son has several golf scholarships offers and picked Coastal. The kid prepares his own meals for max performance and was never pushed.

We tried it all and sadly it is soccer and tennis in high school. Weightlifting is next which she has perfect biomechanics for deadlift and Olympic lifts. Which I do push. Strong people are harder kill.

Engaged parents is the key, today parents want a clique and live vicariously through there kids. It's okay if a kid enjoys to read books and another wants to be a middle linebacker.

If they know Jesus, have character, can swim well, not need gunpowder to kill stuff, clean game and fish, bench press their body weight, run a decent 5k, plant vegetables, read a tape, run basic hand tools at graduation while reaching their potential in the class room they are well ahead of the majority of boys today. Trust funds and inheritances run out in time (are taxed away) skills last a lifetime. Leave them some of both.

Do not play year round baseball...... Anyone suggesting or any coach suggesting year round baseball does not have a kids best interest in mind. I know a lot of orthopedic surgeons that should thank a lot of parents for putting there kids in year round baseball. If sports is there thing then let them play multiple sports if just baseball..... Let them pick up some hobbies in the off season. Year round baseball is hell on a kids arm and burn out from if leaves them in interested by the time they even get to high school. Let them play as many sports as possible. I see a lot of kids with UCL repairs and tendonopathy from nothing but year round baseball.

I agree. Lots of life lessons learned on the golf course for sure.....

Same. And that may continue. There ain't a place on my 70 acres where you can't find a pile of muddy trucks and action figures laying around where the boys had been playing with them. Aggravating but funny at the same time. Maybe I really don't need anything for them to do. Unless they just ask

I am not my kids social chairman. I dont sign them up for every organized class in the county. I'd wake their ass up and tell them to go outside. They'll figure it out.

Met Royce several times. I actually got to be a victim of the baddest living Gracie about 25 years ago at a Gracie seminar in California. Rickson pointed at me and I crawled onto the mat. He ripped my arms out of the sockets. It sucked. After the day ended, he wanted to go for a group run on the beach. I declined. Those guys are superhuman.

we try to take a break from organized sports in summer so more time surfing, boating, fishing. apparently there is such a thing called art camp which my daughter will be attending.

Yeah, I told my son real early that travel anything was a hard no. He could play golf, fish or ski.. what summer is meant for, even though I've got a part timeish job lined up for him.
