    Default HB 3822

I received the text pasted below from a random number this morning. I don't understand why requiring a state issued ID to vote is such a hurdle, especially for a specific race. South Carolina issues IDs at no charge. Replacements are $10.

No one should have to choose between their safety & their vote. We have the power to expand absentee & mail-in voting and make voting more accessible in SC by passing HB3822 before the legislative session ends this week. Will you take action today? - Roberta w/BlackVotersMatter

You have to have an ID to get a job, buy a house, rent a house or apartment, buy a car, open a bank account, buy booze, buy smokes, enter a strip club, enter a bar, buy certain prescription meds.

I did as well. I get random text from Dems during the elections, calling me by multiple names I’ve never heard of, and I’ve had this number for 17 years. I’d say that’s evidence enough for voter IDs. Funny though, I’ve never gotten a text from a conservative group telling me to vote.

If I have to show ID to buy a gun, you have to show ID to vote.

The only way you should be able to vote absentee in any place is if you are a) handi-capped or house bound or b) deployed or stationed outside your state of residence in the military. Otherwise, in person with a valid ID is the only way you should be allowed to cast a ballot.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

What if you have to travel for work during this time?

I disagree. I vote by mail in each election. It makes it easier for me and I dislike being around people. Here in Florida is they seem to compare your signature on the back of the ballot envelope to your signature on your driver's license/state ID or something. Mine didn't match once, wrote my signature as Matt instead of Matthew and I got a letter telling me my ballot wasn't accepted.

That would be like being deployed in the military as long as it was documented.

Would you have to get a not from your employer?

I get wanting to ensure fair elections, but if you have to depend on less people voting, you might want to look at the product you're putting out.

If you’re to lazy to go to an actual polling place, stand in line to do your civic duty for a bit and physically prove your identity, then maybe you shouldn’t be voting because you’ve proven you don’t take the right seriously enough. This shit isn’t rocket science, it’s basic stuff, show your ID, go to the ballot machine, mash a button.

Y'all know good and well this has nothing to do with actual people using IDs to vote.

So you dislike being around people. You’re making a choice. Should we allow Little Johnnie when he turns 18 an exception for mail in vote because he has anxiety, doesn’t like bad smells, has had his feelings hurt in the past? NO. You can decide what to do with your vote. Just because you do t like to be around people is not a good enough reason for me for you to not vote in person. Your vote did t count bc your signature didn’t match? How can you complain about that when you choose not to show in person. Bet if you’re there in person that vote gets counted. People arguing against voter ID and in person voting aren’t concerned with either one.

You don't like being around people??? What do you live in your parents basement and work online??? That is the laziest excuse I have heard in awhile.... I don't like being around people so I need to vote absentee..... The shear number of individuals that never came home to give someone else the right to cast a ballot is astounding and you don't like to be around people......
I see no problem with voting in person and with an ID. Standing in a line for a minute or two is small in comparison to the price some paid for me to stand there.

I see you read into my post what you wanted to get out of it. You're very enlightened.

Where do you see a complaint that my vote didn't count? My vote did count because I sent in proof it was me via a copy of my driver's license. I have no issue with voter ID and it should be required. My mail in ballot is compared against a signature on my driver's license. That is a voter ID requirement.

I have my ballot checked against my signature on my drivers license, so I am subjected to voter ID and have no issue with it. As long as the mail in ballot can be verified and is verified, as mine is, why do you care?

I cast my ballot. I do it the way I want. Me doing it by mail has no bearing on or lack of respect for those that fought and died for a freedoms. It's a stretch for you to go there.

So get off of your high horse.

You said they didn’t accept your signature but didn’t complete the rest of the story about you getting the chance to follow up and verify it was you. I don’t know maybe you were busy or just forgot to mention the rest of it. Hard to be “enlightened” when I don’t have all the facts which you failed to take the time to write the first time. As far as reading in something, you’re right I just assumed you were bitching when your default was “not liking to be around people”. But how would I know when you give half the story until challenged on it? We agree on the same thing so I’m not arguing with you. But I still think your excuse to absentee vote is lame. Thanks for voting though.
