He didn't misspeak. He said exactly what he thought he was supposed to say. Anyone over the age of 16 with any sense at all knew that it was untrue.

What happens when a real crisis unfolds at 3am and the people so gleefully pulling his strings aren't around to tell him what to say on the red phone when they can't even get him saying the right things about his own plan?
