    Default Chicken Coop ideas...

So my 7yr old son wants a couple of chickens and due to some weird neighbors, we probably do not need to let them roam around the neighborhood. Probably only needs to be big enough for two hens. The wife said that it can't be an eye sore so that probably rules out me and him "building" anything. Any of yall ever bought the ones that tractor supply sells? We never had any chickens that we had to keep up when I was a kid, so this is something new. Any ideas/Do's or don'ts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A couple things. Tractor supply coop will be too small eventually. Buy a small shed and modify it if you can't build something. If you are buying chicks keep in mind they are "only" about 70% accurate in sexing the chicks. And I think they may make you buy 4 at a time. So you'll have a decent chance of having to get rid of a rooster in a couple months and your child will not want you to kill and eat it.

Check out a hoop coop on YouTube. As big or as small as you want it.

    www.backyardchickens.com

Explore to your heart's content. Do Not buy any prefab stuff from Tractor Supply. Chicken Tractors are nice b/c you can move them around easily and not have them tearing up one area of the yard.
