    Default Cooper River Run

Anyone ever run it? 40,000 people seems a little crowded for me, but it could be fun. I tried to look at the website for a route but there was no map. Is it just over the bridge and back?

Start a little before Shem Creek, over the bridge and down King with a few turns.

Despite the starting groups it gets crowded but was a fun run.

Definitely a fun run. Last time I ran it some person had a sign with directions back to Ohio.

I think I’m going to sign up. Are there any other bigger runs in the area this year already planned?

I don’t even like driving across that bridge.

It's fun. I did it with some college friends in '09. I need to get back into running.

That sounds like some shit to do in the winter. It’s too damn hot to be doing that now.

I did it two years ago. Waiting to start is really crowded but once you get moving it’s not that bad. And then Marion square is crowded afterwards. I did it just to do it. Fun is not the word is use to describe it.

I knew groups of girls years back that would do it, then make it to the Carolina Cup. It just seems sassy as fuck to me.

    Default Cooper River Run

I did it about ten years ago. It was cool. I locked in a conservative time and there were soccer moms walking and pushing strollers in the group ahead of me. Minus having to navigate through them and seeing a guy fall out about 20 feet in front of me only to read about him dying from a heart attack in the next morning’s Post and Courier, it was okay. I have not done it since though.

Signed up ! See you ladies there

I run pretty consistently but never cared about speed or ever ran in a race. Any tips to train for this type of event ?

    It’s just a 10k. You don’t need to train.

I did it a couple years ago. It was more fun and easier than I would have thought. My wife guilted me into it after her friend hurt her ankle the day before.

haha I did not mean train for the 10k , I take at least one 6mile run almost weekly and clock on avg 20mile per week.
I just meant that since I have never cared about speed I was curious if there were any more serious runners who might have a tip or two on how to approach the next few months to help gain speed. I went back on my little app and since I have a tendency to forget to "stop" my workout when I finish, I dont have a good judge on my actual min per mile, but I would like to try and work on it and take it more serious.

Never done the bridge run and not really interested in huge events like that. Looks like you're running consistently right now but maybe looking for some more speed? Maybe try to put in a couple months of 30-40 mpw, the volume will help your endurance. Keep most runs easy. I try to follow the 80/20 rule (80% easy - 20% hard). 5 runs per week, maybe 2 work outs and an easy longer run on the weekend. Workouts could be intervals, progression runs, tempo runs, hill reps, strides after easy runs.
