My understanding is that they are NOT currently illegal. Bidet sent a request to the ATF to "review", within 60 days, their previous ruling on braces. Obviously the question is does a brace equal a stock which would then turn a pistol ( barrels less than 16" ) into a Short Barrel Rifle.

I read something about it only concerning rifle calibers. Would it also pertain to pistol calibers, if you know?

It will have zero to do with calibers. Its all about barrel length ( less than 16" ) and stocks. Brace vs Stock.

Less than 16" and a stock makes a short barrel rifle.

How many braces/stocks are there out there? How many AR pistols? This numb nuts is grasping at straws. Besides, the way this bunch is spending money, you might get a couple grand in a buyback. Unless they pack the courts, your gun rights are safe, Trump did that right at least.

True, Trump tried, but as long as Roberts is on the court everything remains a crap shoot. Someone is pulling his strings, and I doubt they're from the Right side of the aisle.

The issue with braces is that we've basically been exploiting a loophole.

The real question is why can't I have a rifle with a 14 inch barrel?

I know. I should have elaborated. Why does +/- 16" dictate me getting on the LIST? It's just a bullshit game to see how much control we're willing to tolerate. Same goes for suppressors, no way in hell they should be restricted.

But again, the brace thing is silly. We've all (myself included) been exploiting this weird loophole under the guise of allowing disabled shooters to gain control for one handed shooting. Can you shoulder it? Yes, no, maybe occasionally, depends on who you ask and which letter you reference.

It will be interesting to see what options are offered and how the 10 million plus legal owners of these braces proceed. NFA registry? Remove the brace? Ignore the gubment?
