Default An interesting first for me

Killed him last weekend on a quick morning hunt on family property. Short version was he gobbled up to me at 20yds to where he fell at 7:38am. The first thing I looked for were his spurs when I walked up to him... which there were NONE.

Anyhow he was tagged, reported, and breast and legs are in the freezer. Posting since I've heard but never seen this kind of instance.

    That'd make fighting tough!

    I've killed one like that.

Killed three maybe four with just one spur. One of them with the one spur had a gorgeous 1 1/4" curved dagger.

Chamberlain thinks it's genetic. I think it's from some type of trauma. I'm not a biologist so who knows.

I killed a one spurred bird a few years back and watched a bare legged one get killed by a buddy this year. The one with no spurs this season had 3 beards and weighed 23lbs. Have heard of several others this season as well.

One spurred birds are not that rare. You will probably never kill another birds like that with no spurs. Pretty rare.

Yes. Everyone knows that the length and sharpness of the spur is directly proportional to the age. It's been studied and well documented. Why do you people keep asking stupid questions?

Was he in someone else’s seat, and eating their snack?

We killed one with no spurs a few years back. 20 lbs, 10.5 inch beard, and full of fire when he saw the strutter decoy.

And Mike Chamberlain has stated many times that spurs are not reliable to age turkeys.
