Default Can I get club info from Charleston

Now that I will be moving, I need some info on any clubs in the area please. Looking for a still only club, private stands would be best but willing to take club stands if need be. Haven’t bought a place yet but the closer to the beach the better.
Even if you don’t have openings, what’s the going club membership cost around there? I know it’s going to be more than my guys charge but I need to know if I should start making a few withdrawals from the bank before the wife catches on

I dont have any specific club info but plan on looking around georgetown, Andrews, Kingstree, or other outlying areas. I live in Mt pleasant and basically have to drive an hour minimum almost anytime I go hunt.

Still hunting near Charleston $1500 most average clubs have multi year waiting lists average 100 acres/member $2000+ cuts the number of members but longer waiting list
Drive into the boonies 1/2 that price

Can always hunt FMNF for the price of a WMA license.

    Same

It will teach you how to hunt too and not just walk to a preset numbered stand.

Good point. Not sure where I’ll end up in Charleston but if there are multiple year waits on clubs anyway, I’ll be headed there to do some scouting this summer.

    Where do you live now?
Nothing wrong with the gubmint woods- wear plenty orange- expect lots of dumbassery, lower your buck standards and shoot hogs.
Also watch out for the lady green jeans- she will search your truck every time looking for a beer can.

Likewise! The deer and turkey kills didn’t come easy but damn if they weren’t rewarding.

So I know that you CAN, but do any of you actually put up leaner stands on public lands and leave them out? I’d hate to put one up and it be gone next time I come out.

I leave them. I bought another two off of here a little while back for like $30 each. If they get stole, oh well.

Beats the heck out of toting a climber. But depends on where you are going.

I don't remember the last time I toted a climber on public. My preferred method though is to sit on the ground no blind with a shotgun, now that's a fun way to kill a deer if the conditions are right and you're in a "safe" area.

Yea that’s a good point. Maybe I’ll find a cheap stand and do the same thing. not sure where I’ll end up in Cha but FM is a pretty large tract, hopefully I can find a peaceful spot away from others.

Ain't nothing like camping in Waterhorn opening weekend of deer season in August. Where I saw the first compact generator, I think it was a Yamaha. I had a Honda 1000 not long after.
Our club in GTown, 2300.00. 30 members, 7000+acres. Waiting list.

For some reason I thought you could not. Maybe I was mistaken.

Unless you’re bowhunting, Fullchoke gave great advice. Nothing better than still hunting deer and pigs. Stand more than you creep, wind in your face. Find the overcups or swamp chestnut oaks when you scout. Theyre a huge draw.
