Default First in Blackstock for me...

My dad bought his place over 25 years ago and we had not seen a poisonous snake until this week. And this is the last on my list of wanting to see.

No sir, the last you want to see is a diamond back rattle moccasin ... it’s kind of like a cobra but it eats eastern wild Turkey eggs, morel mushrooms, and high quality cannabis buds.

We had a member kill one a couple years ago that stretched across the tailgate of a Polaris ranger. We named the stand the copperhead stand.

In all my years of being up there in that area I've only seen 3 venomous snakes on the 1200 acres.

One of those Blackstock bastards gave me a dose of venom a few years back while returning from an evening of bow hunting. Set my bow on him while trying to cross a fence. I thought my arm was going to explode the next morning. After a few days it felt better but if I didn't keep it moving it would freeze up and hurt like hell for the first bend. It took about 6 months for the pain to go away. The pain we will put up with for the thrill of the hunt knows no bounds.

It’s a copperhead. They live in SC. Copperhead is least worrisome on my list. Don’t come down to the lowcountry. With the timber rattlers and cottonmouths you wouldn’t be a happy camper.

Cottonmouths don't bother me as much. I can see them. And there are timber rattlers all over the state. Killed one inside the plant years ago.

They’re around. Until I worked in the upstate I didn’t realize how many copperheads there were in Newberry Co.

Haha yes, sorry. I have seen more in the upper midlands than I would have expected, but also in the actual upstate as well.

We killed about forty eleven of those every year growing up. Funny memory is my dad trying to decapitate one with a pitching wedge. Damn snake wrapped around the club, went straight up in the air and came falling back down on him. Deon sanders ain’t got shit on the moves I saw

Nope nope and a def nope.
On my place in McCormick I have never seen a poisonous snake in the 40+ years I have been going up there. I have only ever seen 2 black snakes there, 1 in the woods when I was prob 12 and we had 1 in the house a few years ago. Without a shadow of a doubt they are here, guess I've just been lucky enough to not come across 1 yet.
