Default Pond dam / Spillway work

We have a very old steel pipe spillway...maybe 8” diameter. We’ve had several logs and turtles get sucked in that we’ve been able to take care of in the past but after God only knows how long it’s clogged to a point we can’t bust it up anymore and get water free flowing and the pond has been running around the overflow for a couple months now. Anyone have a contact for damn and spillway work? We’ve decided to upgrade this old spillway. If it makes a difference, the pond is located in St Matthews.

Get a 4 inch diameter tree / log and shove it through pipe with a backhoe/ excavator. Put a strap or chain on log and attach to bucket . Water will flow.

Is the pipe thru the bottom of the dam or at water level? If it’s at water level just dig it up and replace with a larger pipe.

After my experience with them building this plant in BW, I don't know that I'd hire them to grade a driveway.

Nah..it's not straight through. It goes to the bottom of the pond before it turns and goes through the damn.

Have a directional boring contractor drill a new one if the dam is structurally sound.

Alternatively, why does it have to go to the bottom first? Is it not at a constant depth?

I don’t know. This thing is 100 year old. It draws from the bottom and top.
