    Default Good Friday Bird

Decided not to go this morning and planned to give it a shot after lunch instead. Had another spot in mind but decided to stop at the farm first and give it a quick sit. Sat down at 2:21 and let off with the box call. At 2:45 I called again. About 5 min later I thought I’d heard a gobble waaaay off and cut my eyes in that direction. As soon as I did two birds stepped out of the pines and into the clover patch. When they went behind a tree I got my gun on knee and positioned my slate call wedged between my leg and stomach and I made a few soft purrs, scratched in the leaves a few times and got ready.
Dead at 3:00pm, 9” beard, & 1” spurs. I guess I won’t be taking Monday off to hunt after all

    Very nice. Congrats.

It’s one of my favorite places to hunt for sure, and always special killing a bird on the family farm. Come 3rd week of season it will seem like it’s too tall to hunt/see birds in that patch.

I’ll save that day until I can carry the gun again myself.

Ol’ boy was full of acorns and clover.
And as much as I hate to admit it, that game check app was easy to setup and use. I still hate notifying the gov’t just because I killed a turkey
