The motivation for doing this is for a scenario where the oil injection fails and your temp alarm also fails? (Assuming everything is working as it should now)

Yes, but you will either need to fabricate a block off plate or "cap off" the oiler pump lines. But its easy. Remove the oiler, pull the worm gear out, put the oiler back on and cap off the barbed fittings. Making a block off plate gives it a "cleaner" look, but its honestly not worth the hassle IMO. The yam 90 and 130 I have now, both have had the oil injection deleted.

As mentioned... Unbolt the gear mechanism and remove it, then cap it off. Not hard to make, just need a little scrap piece of aluminum, a bench grinder, a little rtv, drill a couple bolt holes and cover up the hole.

If it ever does fail, most likely by the time you realize it, it'll be too late.

    04. We got the boat 2 years ago & motor had 267 hours. It now is well over double that.

When you remove the oil bladder you simply unplug the electrical connection and you're good.

How often does the oil injection fail on the Yamaha’s? Always heard they are very reliable, that’s why I never did mine.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

They are reliable but I have rebuilt some that I found water in the tanks and lines. Anything mechanical can/will fail eventually. I personally would still delete

What GS said. In one way of saying it, on a long enough timeline the failure rate is 100%. Only way to make sure the oil is getting in is delete the injection system and pre-mix.

The guys that modify their motors for racing always do this, but I would not modify an otherwise stock Yamaha unless it was having issues. If my Yamaha fails tomorrow, it will be the first one. MG

Oil pump failure rate is extremely rare on Yamaha. Most of their oil pumps are gear driven, unlike other's VRO pulse driven pumps.
Any Yamaha tech will tell you this, first thing to get blamed for a powerhead popping is "oil failure"
when it rarely is, its usually a lean carb or a bad injector (oil/fuel delivery device) or a stuck ring due to carbon build up.
You don't want 50:1 at all times, if you read the service manual and have your oil adjustment rod adjusted the correct length
the motor is only getting 50:1 at wot. Good way to carb up your rings and foul plugs is to start screwing with premix and adding a little
extra here and there and next thing you know, its way too much oil and not to mention smoky, messy mixing, blah blah blah
Use Ring Free and decarb your motor once and awhile and let it rip..
You can have confidence with that oil system, I am pretty sure the Yamaha engineers know best, also call a Yamaha Master tech and ask them how reliable they are.
There are only usually three or four Master techs in a state, Yamaha website lists them.
With much older 2 strokes such as the old Johnson/Evinrudes and Mercs of the early 90's and older, those engines yes i would disconnect in a heart beat! However the Yamaha auto oiler is the best most fail proof design for its era! Flush out your remote oil tank if you want to have some "peace of mind" with the system and make sure your oil lines are secured tightly with the zip ties. I know of one Yamaha that blew due to no oil and it was because an oil line came off.
