    Default Damn a poacher

    I am heading to my in-laws this weekend to try to get my son his first bird. Last season was awesome with so many extraordinary close encounters- I think we had over twenty bearded birds within 30 yards but something always went wrong. Texted with my brother-in-law at noon and he dropped me a pin showing me where we should be on Saturday morning. I had a few missed calls from him this afternoon and finally got up with him while he was talking to the warden. Seems a local felon (had him on cameras almost daily) decided to make himself at home on our main farm with cameras and piles of bait. Warden said this particular spot (where the pin was dropped) is off limits for ten days. It could be worse and he could have pulled the plug on the whole farm. We would just adjust. Few hours late my BIL calls and says they got him- he got stuck on the way out. Because he was a felon, the sheriffs and game wardens rolled on him. He had called four different wreckers- three of which arrived on scene. When they pulled his truck out, this was underneath. If it was just me going hunting this weekend, I would be irritated. Long standing plans with my whole family and trying to get my son a bird- I am bent.

    Wow, I’d be pissed too. No matter what DNR/LEO does to this idiot it won’t change the fact he ruined your weekend for you and your son.

    Nah- this is my in laws’ place in the Pee Dee. The only good part is that there are lots of birds there. If this happened at our place in Anderson the season would be over! Apparently they’re going to make it hurt- gun charges, trespassing, hunting without a license, baiting, excess game harvest, etc. Hope he gets revoked and goes back to the pen.

    Hell of an offer buddy. I really appreciate it. We are going to plan B it at the in-laws. Have to be there for nephew’s baptism on Saturday (catholic). We have a few other spots down there and can still hunt areas of the main farm- just not that hot spot.

    Again, really appreciate the generosity on here. You guys always come through for folks. We will adjust and be okay. Really just wanted to bitch to people who get it. Don’t think my wife quite gets my frustration and feeling like I got bent over by a stranger.

    Dont need a firearm to kill a turkey legally, therefore a felon can legally take a turkey, therefore a felon can get turkey tags.
