Human-Made Floating Island City In The Caribbean Sea Offers Affordable Homes
    by Luana Steffen
    March 20, 2021

The Caribbean Sea is getting a new luxurious human-made island! Blue Estate Island has launched the world’s first floating city with accommodations ranging between $20,000 for a studio apartment to $1.5 billion for a luxurious mansion with lush room gardens. The island was built from scratch using high-performance concrete modules measuring 4921 ft by 3280 ft, half the size of Monaco.

The city can house more than 15,000 permanent residents and features hospitals, schools, and businesses, such as restaurants, boutiques, small shops, seafood markets, and a daily fresh farm. The Blue Estate Island floating city will offer various community centers and parks, including four artificial lagoon pools and a 2 million sq ft public garden deck with a stunning view from 140 ft above sea level.

As a safety precaution, the island’s outer walls measure over 160 ft to “dwarf the ocean’s biggest waves”. Blue Estate Island considers sustainability and will use renewable sources for power to maintain a negative CO2 output. If all goes well, the floating city expects to be open to residents by 2023.

All I need is one small hut and the rest of the island can be dedicated to raising live bait from bloodworms to tuna.

Of course one will need to scrap this nonsense...

Q: How do you generate electricity?

We'll use a wide range of renewable energy sources like: Solar, wind, wave, current and temperature gradient (OTEC) to generate electricity. Batteries will be used for short term, and liquid hydrogen for mid term storage of the produced energy.
And purchase an old Soviet nuke sub to tie up for power that you can count on and sinking of enemies and people who try to fish to close of course...

Can you drive it around to avoid hurricanes?

Q: Is there a risk of sinking?

    No
, the Blue Estate is engineered and build from ultra resistant composite concrete modules. The flotation base exterior shell is several meters in thickness and could not be severely damaged even by collision with a very large ship. Additionally the structure is segmented in several thousand separate compartments.

Q: Do I have to be afraid of large waves or storms?

No, the exterior walls are towering more than 160 ft (50 m) high offering more than enough protection in rough seas. In case of high winds the hurricane shutters will be deployed to shield-off the island safely. Should there be a strong hurricane incoming, the Blue Estate will move to a calmer location beforehand.

$20k for a studio seems ridiculously cheap. I wonder if it has yearly dues, like an HOA.

There are no bathrooms. You have to hold it until you get back to New Orleans where you can just crap on the sidewalk.
