Looking for an out of state deer hunt for next year. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on public land hunting. How many states will allow me to buy over the counter tags or will I have to enter drawings for most midwest states? Any thoughts?

I'm not really ready to go on a bow only hunt yet. I would like to rifle hunt. I know trying to get a rifle tag lowers my chances of getting drawn. What's your opinions. I have a couple of fellas wanting to go and I'm trying to do some research for next year.
