    Default 22 mag scope

My dad got a 22 mag Savage rifle. I was going to put a scope on it for his birthday. Trying to decide between a simple red dot or probably a fixed power scope. Any recommendations? He is getting older but still has great eye sight so easy to focus for him would be best. Not trying to break the bank on this as it isn't something crazy that he is going to use everyday. Maybe try and keep the budget under $150 to $200

    I have a cheap Simmons 3 x 9 x 40 on mine. Pretty darn accurate out to 100.

They’re hard to find new because they quit making them but a Nikon pro staff rimfire or weaver kaspa series is what I have on all of my .22 rifles. But it’s not like I spend a lot of time in the woods with a .22

Nikon Prostaff scopes are probably the best value in lower priced scopes. I've used them on several rifles, easy to get them sighted in and they stay sighted in.
Not the best in low light conditions but excel in every other category

Found a Weaver Kaspa on Amazon for a decent deal. Only one I could find available anywhere.

    Glad you found one,

I’ve got the kaspa series on my .22mag and the nikons on my LR.
I thinkthe kaspa might be just a tad clearer than the nikons

That's good to hear. Its the Weaver 849851, probably more than my dad will ever need but should do the trick. Was leaning towards fixed power but he will probably just leave it on 3x anyways.

I believe Natchez still has both.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
