    Default Folly info

Got a free spot to stay in Follywood for the weekend so taking wife and kids on a quick escape.

Places to see / eat / drink?

Haven’t set foot on that place since 2008

It changed so much since 2008- I moved off the beach (and island) in 09- overnight liberal yankee takeover.

I rarely pass the boat landing unless there’s a swell. Or if I was working

Same here and I'm there A LOT. I need to get some recommendations in line though as I always have people asking.

The lost dog or something like that is ok taco boy was good and Bowen’s island is good but there are much better places to eat away from folly.

    For God's sake, no.

There's three or four good places out there. You'll figure it out.

I only had their frogmore stew so sounds like I got lucky not ordering anything else I guess. I don’t really like folly but my wife wife does so we end up there ever so often.

Folly is fun. Kid and adult friendly. Wife and I like the bohemian bull going in on the right. St James gate and lost dog cafe are good.

We used to ride our bikes to folly when I was in my early teens. Place is almost unrecognizable now, damn golf carts everywhere, Yankees with socks and flip flops, sunburnt yankees as far as the eyes can see, locals few and far between. We used to go the the brown or purple pelican when I was young and judge the bikini contest. My aunt and uncle built the holiday inn back in the mid 80s. Only place I have eaten at there recently was at The Washout, music was good and food wasn't bad.

SC coast getting ruined one day at a time. I live in MT P, have great access to IOP and grew up there, and rarely go. Sucks. Matter of time before N and S of there is all screwed up too.

Not a damn thing wrong with Bowens if you can avoid the crowds. I hate folly.... and pretty much every other beach in the world. I drink at surf bar and sand dollar if I have to go down there though. Jack of Cups and Lost Dog are supposed to be good but I’ve never been. I try and support Berts when I go down there.

taco boy is popular. wiki tiki is trendy now. Blu at the hotel is not bad. bohemian bull off the island is good. has fun outdoor stuff for kids like corn hole. a long walk or bike ride to the north end up into the inlet at the lighthouse is nice. washout is fun but food is not spectacular. has live music sometimes. Ritas food decent and usually live music. a trip into berts at 2nd street is a good cultural experience lol. I grew up there fwiw. it aint the same as it used to be. other than no water activity you'll probably enjoy the slightly less crowd. Ship store at marina on west end has beautiful sunset view and laid back local vibe but no food.

Food is highly subjective. If you doubt that I invite you to read the ketchup on grits thread. I happen to like “good” food. And as a result, I eat elsewhere.
