    Default Chainsaw/Brush Cutter recommendations

Need to upgrade my chainsaw and get a brush cutter. I want to get more than I will need for personal use without getting into the professional class. Will be used to clear trails, fenceline in heavily wooded land. I'll need to take down a fair number of mature trees, soft and hard woods.

I'm thinking about stihl but wanted to see what others have used and their experiences. Any recommendations?

Also, anyone use a sawhaul or another method or mount for chainsaw on tractor?

    Thanks

What saw do you have now? That is needed before an "upgrade" can be suggested.

i have a rancher 455. It does fine but if i had it to do over I'd buy a 50-55cc stihl.

I have a husqvarna 455 rancher with a 20" bar that has been a great non professional grade saw. I believe the Stihl equivalent would be the MS 291. Probably can't go wrong with either. The next saw I buy will be either a Husqvarna 372 XP or 572 XP.

I have a Poulan pro as well. Not a bad deal for the money. Probably not for the every day user but for occasional use my ass been pretty good.

    Echo cs590

    It’s a 60cc saw and can handle a 24” bar

significantly less expensive than the comparable stihl, too.

Echo is fine. Stihl is better. Poulan sucks. Those are my thoughts from personal experience.

Go with Stihl and you will be happy. Walk in your local dealer and tell them what you told us and they will sell you what you need.

Been running Stihl for many trouble free years. I use one of their weed eaters with a skill saw blade. Lighter and more versatile then their brush cutters.

I run their saws as well...

    Bad time to buy unfortunately....

That virus but Stihl factory and distribution pretty good according to my local guy.
His shelves are empty and said anything he gets is sold before he actually gets it.

Stihl for all of it. Echo is good for a homeowner use, Stihl makes that level saw too. Then the farm ranch series and another professional series.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
