Will representatives that are not from my district give a damn what I say on their phone message recorder? My rep is not on the Judiciary Committee. I'll call him anyway but should I waste my time with the ones that know my vote doesn't matter to their re-election?

For those of us that never wanted to mess with politics or politicians, you need to do it anyway.

I have been told that Justin Bamberg, who is on the list above, is a strong 2nd amendment supporter. The same is said about Todd Rutherford who is the Democratic House Caucus leader.

Not that it may matter anymore, but both had decent scores by the NRA. Todd was an "A" and Justin was "B." And just from what I have been told, I am surprised it wasn't reversed.
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.

On Penry Gustafson’s assignments it says she’s assigned to judiciary. Does this mean she is part of this committee?

The Indiana House voted Monday to eliminate the license to carry a handgun in the state -- an apparent victory, at least temporary, for supporters of Second Amendment gun rights.

Republicans will Go in session today at 12:00. We will leave and go straight to our caucus lunch. Full judiciary committee follows that.

Your best chance to express your opinion is before 12 today. After that they will be completely locked down on the open carry with training bill that is on the calendar.

Does this “Open carry with training” bill mean that only non-CWP holders need to get training, or do even CWP holders have to get additional training to OC?

I've seen it mentioned twice on SCDucks in the last 24 hours that printing is illegal.
Can someone post the statute that defines this? I've searched and can't find it.

    South Carolina
Open carry is illegal. 16-23-20 “It is unlawful for anyone to carry about the person any handgun, whether concealed or not, except as follows, unless otherwise specifically prohibited by law.” Subsection (12) requires that to be exempt from an unlawful carrying of handgun charge, one must carry according to the terms of the permit. The permit terms require concealment.

23-31-210(5) “‘Concealable weapon’ means a firearm having a length of less than twelve inches measured along its greatest dimension that must be carried in a manner that is hidden from public view in normal wear of clothing except when needed for self-defense, defense of others, and the protection of real or personal property.”

However, “a manner that is hidden from public view in normal wear of clothing” is not defined. No case law could be found and anecdotal information indicates that only concealed carry, not imprinting or accidental exposure, is illegal. Unlawful carry of a handgun is a misdemeanor (16-23-50).

    I’ve called my rep twice.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

If you do not truly understand why you need to be involved in governing then you will have less influence than is afforded to you.

People complain but don't make an effort to influence. Your choice. We will get open carry with permit and required training providing the senate agrees.

Quick question: you say with permit and required training. If you already have a permit will there be an addition training requirement on top of the permit for open carry?

The trick is, you will only have influence if you have something to offer in return. That can come in many forms.

How about I carry and don’t have my name on a .gov list. The only .gov lists my name should be on are a citizens roll, a drivers license. Shall not be infringed doesn’t seem too hard to decipher and understand.

Here you go. The current CWP covers 'Open Carry' in addition to concealed.

We still need to get them to change these 'felony' charges back to misdemeanors before we go for anything else, or the frickin' Dems will figure out how to get many of us on felonies before we get any farther. There's already too many of them in this State, and it's just going to get worse as they vacate Ma, NY, CN, MD and NJ... heading South and South West.

This is the bill that removes the requirement for a permit to carry. Like option 4 of DT's poll, his amendment is likely a feel good to appeal to gun owners and sportsman, it will be shot down quick. The House Rinos do not like the conservatives sponsors of the CC bill so they will not take up actual Constitutional Carry. Sled and Sheriffs Association carries more weight in the name of safety and all.

They understand it. They're just scared of it. Hence their efforts to limit it and create a paper trail.

Why would a tyrannical government want to leave in place the very tool designed to prevent/curtail/overthrow a tyrannical government?
