Organics are probably less than 5%. Soils near the surface are often stained, appearing dark.

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Missing you my great friend.
Call Land Services, Inc. They are based out of Pawleys but travel anywhere in SC. I can provide a direct contact if you want to call or text me. (803) 603-3738
Sure. And let’s ignore the fact that this material is highly moisture sensitive, which is why it behaves like it does when it rains and you put traffic on it.
I’ve been responsible for tearing up more roads than probably anyone. I’ve also been responsible for having to put em back.
Got to get that standing water off and AWAY from the road bed.
Let it dry. Try and have it day lighted. The more sun the better.
Crown it. The wider the better.
Slag is ok and cheap but wait times can be aggravating. I’d go with surge and be done with it. Sand clay cap before the surge would be a bonus also.

Who has slag near Summerton?
NW White is my go to for damn anything. But they will tell you the same thing... wait times have been bad for a while
Also Bryan Moreland is another go getter

Jay is a good guy and does good work. He was at my farm this afternoon pricing a project for me.
NW White is a trucking company. They haul rock, they don’t quarry rock, they don’t make slag.
If you’re blindly calling them for slag, chances are good you overpay on some orders.
I know who and what they are. They are my go to for most all road products and don’t eff around. They have the trucking power to get it fast.
A phone call, a pin drop, and they are on the way.

We buy a bunch of aggregate and NW White has always been good to work with.
Summerton you say?
Just sell the timber if you have any and let the buyer fix it. I have fixed many and will probably continue to do so with the current rainfall.
Surge holds up well but you need to get the water off first. A base layer and then the rock should hold it unless you have a spring where your road is located.
So many dirt road experts......
How many of y’all live on one or have a long dirt drive?
Main question, do you have time to let it dry (minimum a week of dry weather if you leave it alone and don’t drive on it) or are we fixing it this week?
If it’s my drive, it’s getting scraped off, a solid base of sand clay, crowned (a wide crown), drainage cut on both sides and 4-6” or 57 or something close packed in on top the first dry day I get. It will need more rock after it settles but that’ll be a solid base to start with.
