Agree. But, the NWR counts don't line up with that. The shift is west. The real question is why.

Up until the 1990's the true magnetic north shifted about nine miles/year. Since then it is shifting 30-40 miles/year. It is thought birds migrate by the poles. Related? I don't know but some smart grad student should take a look.

My pops said there is some kind of Shift every 19 years. He was telling me about tides and surfing how it affected where they surfed. Ima pick his brain again and see what heck hes talking about. He was saying probably has the same effect on tbe ducks. Something about one of the North magnitudes

Want to solve the googan problem? Need a special license to waterfowl hunt that requires passing a test to get duck stamps- not just buying one and hunting. Hunters Ed for waterfowl with a 3 year renewal.

And the excess pressure problem? Issue duck tags- hey- everyone is on board with deer tags- and turkey tags- so why not, and make tags specific to either odd or even days.

    And outlaw mud motors.

Every suggestion I made has worked in some form or another to ease the pressure on fish and wildlife- and worked well.

40% coverage of submersed vegetation on Marion and Moultrie.

    Start there.

In a few years when the ducks show up, restrict all air cooled engines.

Make the Hatchery, Santee Cooper WMA, and Potato Creek WMA, paddle only.

Watch what happens to SC public duck hunting.

Simple, but effective solutions, yet DNR can’t wrap their head around it, because they do not care about public waterfowl hunting.

    There is no other explanation.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

    Isn’t it sad?

We know what works to draw ducks to public water on a large scale, but our very own Dept of Natural Resources turns a blind eye.
