It would be worth a shot if you had a rope in the truck strong enough to pull the boat the rest of the way if you didn't make it...

I tempted fate with one almost that bad years ago. Believe I was 17. Ended up breaking in walterboro, made for an eventful day.

    Won’t make that mistake again.

My trailer now is looking rough.

Same trailer, about 10 years ago, broke the bracket that holds the leaf springs to the axle. We were in Arkansas. No U bolts at local hardware stores would work, so we put it all back together with one ratchet strap holding it in place ... we made it to Columbia to drop off one of the guys on the trip when after 600 miles the strap finally gave way and broke. It was a good run.

Ha.....I looked back a few days ago and noticed a blown out shackle.
I limped it on back roads another 25 miles coming to a near stop before each bridge.
I made it without incident thankfully....
    I hate a boat trailer!

Old whaler trailer had some strange hardware. Couldn't find the right stuff anywhere. Ended up getting some threaded rod, heating it with a torch and making my own u-bolts to get by.

Busted a leaf spring bracket at the launch which caused the port side axles to shift, coonass engineering 101 got me by with a scrap trailer guide bracket and ratchet strap until I could come back down to camp, launch the ark and get to the welder. $60 fix. I'll be changing all leaf springs and trailer hubs this Spring, not too bad for a 1995 trailer tho.

Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

I have one like that right now
I ordered a brand new tandem torsion axle trailer a few weeks ago and they actually called
me today and said I can pick it up mid-March
