Hollywood will undoubtably disappoint those who read the book. I think the book is far too long and suspenseful for Hollywood be able to match it.

Tom Clancy wrote the only book I ever gave up on reading halfway through. Red Rabbit. All his others were great. Rainbow six is probably one of my top ten.

So, is John Clark identifying as a white guy in all of the other series of books he’s in?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I would say yes. In the books I always figured he was white.

Google says this is the first time his character has been black in the movies.

He’s white in all the books from Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Hunt for Red October, Sum of All Fears and on and on. White in the Jack Ryan Jr Campus series etc. Too much pandering and rewriting everything these days.

I still don't. Clancy always seemed like an asshole so even if I did I wouldn't read his shit.

Agreed. I always figured it would just be too many moving parts, but with today's CGI, it could be a great flick. Not sure Hollywood could stomach depicting the defeat of Marxist villains though...

Jack Carr has three books out that are worthy of reading. His main character James Reece is cut from the Clark cloth. Amazon TV has picked up "The Terminal List" starring Chris Pratt.

Unlike Clancey, Carr is a retired SEAL and adds quite a bit of his personal experiences into the books.

Fourth book " The Devil's Hand" arrives in April.
